Bringing the live concert experience to hundreds of thousands of people unable to attend this important cultural event in Russia, the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition webcast gives viewers around the globe privileged seating for competition performances. Unprecedented by any cultural webcast to date, the Tchaikovsky Competition, in partnership with Rostelecom, Russia’s major telecom operator and ParaClassics, a unique online platform designed specifically for coverage of international classical music events, presents performances in High Definition via four simultaneous live streams, to the online audience.
The webcast is presented in Russian and English by international music commentators who will interview jury members, past competition winners, conductors, and other musicians during performance intermissions.
The Tchaikovsky Competition webcast has many special features to make viewers’ experience more engaging. “Behind the scenes” documentary videos are being created for the web about activities happening off stage during the competition. Viewers can register for a “follow” option that will send them email notifications about upcoming performances by their favorite competitor. Easy to use social networking links let viewers share performances or documentary elements with their friends.
