Born in Moscow in 1984, Maria Tretyakova is the daughter of famed Russian violinist Viktor Tretyakov. She began her piano studies at the age of five and a year later gave her first public performances and made television and radio appearances in Russia and France. At the age of nine, she won first prize at an international competition for young pianists in Poland and also made her debut as soloist with orchestras in several Russian cities. In 1997, she became a soloist with the Moscow State Philharmonia and gave her first concert in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. Outside of Russia, she has performed with orchestras in Romania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Croatia, other countries of the former Yugoslavia, and Germany; has toured to Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea; and has taken part in numerous festivals.
